Challenge of combination skin – adapting care to the skin condition

Does your skin often feel oily on your chin, nose, and forehead, and dry on your cheeks and around your eyes? Then your skin exhibits the typical characteristics of combination skin—a skin type that combines different skincare needs. But even this skin can appear visibly balanced with targeted care. The goal: to provide the dry areas of skin with sufficient moisture and gently rid the oilier zones of excess sebum. If the differences are very pronounced, it may be beneficial to use different products in your skincare routine. This way, each area of skin is cared for individually – depending on its condition and the day's mood.

Why can caring for combination skin be challenging?

Combination skin is typically characterized by both oily, blemish-prone skin and dry, sensitive skin . The so-called T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is particularly prone to oil buildup.

On the cheeks, however, the skin often appears dry, tight, or reddened. This can change with the seasons or with age.

With age, these differences often even out somewhat as sebum production decreases. Combination skin then generally becomes easier to care for. However, it should still be treated with care.

How do I properly care for combination skin?

With combination skin, it is important to maintain balance: the skin should be thoroughly but gently cleansed and at the same time sufficiently cared for.

This balancing act begins with cleansing with mild products that are tailored to your skin.

Mild Cleansing Foam

cleaning

Cleanse your face morning and evening with lukewarm water. Hot water can further dry out dry areas.

If your skin is relatively balanced overall, you can also use a cleanser for your entire face. Depending on whether you tend toward oily/blemished skin or dry and sensitive skin, the DEEP CLEANSING FOAM tends to be best for combination skin in the summer, and the MILD CLEANSING FOAM in the winter.

Face Cream Medium

peeling

A gentle scrub, which you can use about once or twice a week , helps remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin looking smoother and fresher. Scrubs also support natural skin renewal.

For sensitive skin, we recommend mild peels without coarse particles to protect the skin. For example, SKINUANCE® ENZYME PEELING & CLEANSER.

Toning

After cleansing, a toner brings the skin back into balance. It helps stabilize the skin's natural pH and optimally prepares it for skincare.

Care

It is important to use a skincare product that is both moisturizing and non-comedogenic , meaning it does not clog pores.

Avoid products with irritating ingredients such as alcohol or strong fragrances.

The Medium Face Cream is ideal for combination skin. This oil-in-water emulsion nourishes with avocado oil, shea butter, panthenol, and vitamins. These ingredients can help give your skin a nourished and balanced appearance.

When does combination skin need different care?

If your skin areas differ greatly, it may be beneficial to use different products specifically. This is the case, for example, if you have a very oily forehead and very dry cheeks. In this case, we recommend SKINUANCE® FACE CREAM LIGHT.

For relatively balanced combination skin, a product with a balancing effect is often sufficient. Skincare formulas like those from SKINUANCE® are specifically developed for the needs of combination skin. They help balance the skin's needs and meet its diverse requirements.

Daily care as a small gesture to yourself

Treat yourself to a few minutes every day to your skin—not as a chore, but as a conscious break. You don't need a special occasion to treat yourself. When your skin is cared for, you feel better, and nothing stands in the way of your finest aging.
